About Us


Matavino is a small boutique vineyard, nestled on gentle north-facing slopes in the famous Matakana Wine region. Our vision is to grow a variety of wines to match the local food and produce. This includes the red italian grape varieties Barbera, Nebbiolo, and Dolcetto from the Piedmont area, as well as the French white varieties of Viognier and Chardonnay. The vines are hand-nurtured by family and friends using sustainable practices.  All Matavino wines are Vegan certified.

Matavino vineyard was initially planted in September 2006 and the first wines went on sale in October 2010.

Matavino wines are best matched with food but also taste great out on the deck or around the BBQ with friends and family. After all, that’s what Italian life is all about – great food, great wine, great company!
